From Farm to Feet
At Woolfi, we believe that comfort should come without compromise. Our commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing is deeply rooted in the natural beauty of New Zealand, where we source our high-quality wool.
Woolfi is committed to providing transparency in our sourcing practices. We invite you to trace the journey of your slippers—from the farm to your feet. Our goal is to build a community that values natural materials and understands the importance of ethical consumption.
Sourced with Care: Our Wool Journey
Our wool is not just any wool; it’s New Zealand wool,
renowned for its softness, durability, and ability to regulate temperature. We
understand that every fibre tells a story, and we are dedicated to ensuring
that our materials reflect our values.
Why wool?
Comfort, simplicity and natural materials go hand in hand. Woolfi has chosen New Zealand strong wool for not only these attributes but for the following to keep your toes cosy in winter and cool in summer.
-
Comfortable
To be wrapped in wool is to be comforted by natural softness, thermal comfort and breathability. Wool radiates comfort by allowing the skin to breath, the temperature to regulate, the wearer to feel comfort like never before. Where there’s Woolfi there’s love.
-
Durable
New Zealand wool is known for its durability around the world, partly to do with New Zealand’s sustainable farming practices, and the use of less chemicals. A single strand of wool can bend 20,000 times and not be damaged, this is why wool products last for years. Wool naturally repels odours, can absorb 35% of its own weight in moisture and reacts to changes in the body’s temperature. Wool keeps its durability intact time and time again.
-
Sustainable
Formed of keratin, wool is 100% biodegradable. Renewable bi-annually, wool is removed from the animal carefully twice a year. At the end of life, wool biodegrades into the soil, leaving no trace. Research indicates that wool can also biodegrade in salt water – a huge environmental plus.
Animal Welfare at the Heart of Our Practices
In New Zealand, our commitment to animal welfare is upheld by stringent regulations under the Animal Welfare Act. We ensure our farmers follow the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare, ensuring that our sheep are treated humanely throughout their lives. This means they are free from hunger and thirst, discomfort, pain, injury, and disease, and able to express normal behaviour.
Our Process
Our felting process is gentle and natural, using only soap, water and vegetable dyes, resulting in slippers that not only feel good but are also kind to the planet. The wool we use breathes, allowing your feet to stay cool in summer and warm in winter, without the worry of moisture build-up.
Free from child labour and supporting ethical working practices
We only work with partners that are certified for ensuring fair working conditions for their staff and free from any child labour. This dedication helps to support elimination of child labour and promoting fair labour practices across the global. By choosing Woolfi products, you can be confident that they are free from child labour and have been produced under ethical working conditions by certified partners.
